EAGLE PASS, TX - A pilot program that jails all illegal immigrants crossing into this Texas border town from Mexico has led to a dramatic fall in numbers attempting the journey, the U.S. Office of Border Patrol said on Friday. A program known as Operation Streamline II, instituted on December 12, is aimed mostly at non-Mexican illegal immigrants who were arrested and released because Border Patrol agents did not have sufficient space to jail them.
|
The blanket crackdown is also being applied to undocumented Mexicans who were previously subject to criminal background checks and released back over the Rio Grande without charges. (more…)

Normally the theme for Guerrilla Traveler is adventure on a budget, but sometimes the adventure possibilities are so great I will pass on great adventures that are worth the extra cost. If you are planning to travel to New York City anytime soon, consider seeing the Big Apple from the air.
For example, New York Helicopter Charter offers three tour packages to choose from. The Liberty Tour allows you to see the Statue of Liberty, Ellis and Governors Island, the South Street Seaport, the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, and the Wall Street Financial Center.
|
The Central Park Tour takes you over the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the Empire State Building, Central Park, and the Intrepid Air, Sea and Space Museum. (more…)

Once you have your US Green Card in hand, visit America’s next great city, Philadelphia.
A national magazine has christened Philadelphia as America’s ‘Next Great City.’ The assessment comes in the October issue of National Geographic Traveler.
When asked what comes to mind when they think of Philadelphia, a local might say cheesesteak or that scene in ‘Rocky’ when Sylvester Stallone runs up the art museum steps.
But the October issue of National Geographic Traveler said there are a lot of other good things to eat in Philadelphia, and you should actually go inside the museum for a look around.

The magazine delved beneath pop culture to reveal the historical, artistic and gastronomic layers of Philadelphia. (more…)

With a population of more than two million, Miami is much more than a typical big city. The land is multifaceted and the people are culturally diverse; drifting sounds of Latin music are equally as popular as the squeals of children splashing in the waves..
