Eric Posted: (Immigration Attorney) 01-Aug-06 22:09 If you win the 2009 lottery, you will have to have had your status adjusted to lawful permanent resident (or receive the DV visa) no later than September 30, 2009. People are notified if they have won, as will as their place on line. Interviews will be scheduled anytime starting October 209. Remember, even if you won the lottery, they might not get to your number as the numbers they issue are greater than the 50,000 they distribute.

Dear Sir
Let me explain you the situation: Last year I and my family members played the DV Lottery 2008. In May 2007 we were sent the letter stating that we were chosen to continue the Lottery process and for that we had to fill in the corresponding Application forms.
In my form in the field “FATHER” I gave the name of a person who is physically my father and leaves abroad. But the problem is that there is a name of another person in my Birth Certificate.
As I found out from my mother by the time I was born my mother and father already parted and there was a deep conflict between them. I need to say that my parents were not legally married.Due to the conflict between my parents my father refused to give me his last name and my mother made a decision to write down in my Birth Certificate the First and Patronymic names of my real father but to write her maiden name in the section “Last name”.
The situation is that now in my birth certificate in the section “Father” there is a name of a person who does not actually exist.
At the same time I met with my real father several years ago and he gave me an official letter stating that he accepts me as his daughter and is ready to give me his last name.
I wanted to be frank filling the Application form for the DV Lottery and that is why I wrote down the name of a person who accepts me as his daughter. At the same time I realize that any false information in the Application Form may lead to a Visa Denial.
I do need your consultation. What should I do in this situation : leave everything the way it is now (and bring all the documents to the Interview) or start a process of changing my present Birth Certificate to a new one that will include the name of my real father?
