The American embassy in Norway warns people not to be duped by a swindlers pretending to be linked to the State Department’s Green Card Lottery. Each year the State Department holds its Diversity Visa Lottery, better known as the Green Card Lottery, where 50,000 residency permits to the USA are granted to winners.

In recent weeks the American embassy in Oslo has received reports about attempted e-mail swindles, where messages are sent asking for financial details or payment in order to complete the process of winning the lottery, embassy media advisor Ellen Sporstøl said in a press release.
