The number of applications this year, according to the U.S Department of State, is expected to be around 17 million – and this figure is low because of the current global economic recession. This is why you need to ensure that your application is not only filed early but also correctly. At MyUSGreencard.com we help you with the application process. We review your application for errors and ensure that you submit and error-free application. This takes on special significance when you consider the fact that millions of applications are rejected on the basis of incorrect information. We offer free advice on immigration – again a critical aspect of acquiring your green card. 50% of the lottery winners fail to obtain their visa for some reason or the other. As always the visas will be distributed among six geographic regions with a greater number of visas distributed among regions that have a low rate of immigration. The following nations that have sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the U.S in the past five years are not eligible for participating in the DV lottery for 2011 - Brazil, Canada, China (mainland born) Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Poland, South Korea, United Kingdom, (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam. For DV-2011, persons born in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, and Taiwan are eligible. Apart from the exceptions mentioned above, the list for DV-2011 is the same as the list for DV-2010. To be eligible for the lottery you need high school education from the U.S or abroad or work experience of two years in the past five years. Your job should be one that requires at least two years’ training or work experience. If either you or your spouse win, both of you can get green cards.
